| Dr. Rene DeHon, Geology instructor |
The new instructor, Dr. Rene DeHon, obtained his PhD in Geology and Geochemistry from Texas Tech University in 1970. After holding teaching positions at Northwestern State University of Louisiana and the University of Arkansas at Monticello, DeHon joined the faculty at the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 1977, where he taught for more than 28 years, rising to the rank of full professor. He retired from Monroe in December 2005. During his career, he taught a wide range of Geology courses and published some 40 scholarly works. Dr. Phillip Suckling, Chair of the Department of Geography, said, “We are delighted that Dr. DeHon has come out of retirement to join us a Senior Lecturer with teaching responsibilities for the Geology minor here at Texas State.”
This fall, Geology labs are continuing to be taught in Centennial Hall while rooms in Evans Liberal Arts are remodeled to house a Geology teaching lab and a microscope teaching lab for advanced Geology courses. All remodeling will be completed by January 2008. Lectures are currently being taught in Evans.
