Students honor Dr. Elizabeth Bishop with Excellence Award
May 2011—Dr. Elizabeth Bishop, Assistant Professor of History, has been honored with the Foundations of Excellence Award given by the University’s Student Foundation.
The Student Foundation is devoted to developing student leaders at Texas State. Since 2005, the Foundation has given the award annually to faculty and administrators who show exceptional commitment to the quality of students' experience at Texas State.
Dr. Bishop was honored for "creativity and novel teaching methods" in the classroom, advising the award-winning Model Arab League student group, and general "friendliness and approachability." Dr. Bishop’s scholarship focuses on 19th- and 20th-century Arab workers’ movements and labor law. Under her coaching, Texas State students were named the "outstanding overall delegation" for their representation of Saudi Arabia in the regional Model Arab League competition in Houston Feb. 26-27.
