Steven Scholl to Discuss Islam, Christianity, and Judaism in Price Lecture
February 2008—Steve Scholl, an independent religious scholar, writer, and filmmaker, will speak on “Where Judaism, Christianity, and Islam Meet: A Profound Kinship or a Clash of Theologies?” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the LBJ Teaching Theatre (LBJ Student Center Room 4-16.1). The lecture is free and open to the public.
The lecture is part of the Price Lecture Series, sponsored by United Campus Ministry-Wesley (formerly the Campus Christian Community). The series is named for the late San Marcos businessman and philanthropist H. Y. Price, who made it possible through a generous endowment.
Scholl has written on religion for magazines and newspapers and is a contributor to
The Encyclopedia of Religion, edited by Mircea Eliade. Scholl founded the White Cloud Press in 1993 and is editor of
The Peace Bible: Words from the Great Traditions and
Common Era: Best New Writings on Religion. Scholl, who lives in Ashland, OR, regularly leads trips to the Middle East to study Sufism through Imagine Adventures (
