Which catalog should I use in planning my degree program?
You will be placed under the current Texas State catalog if you are an incoming freshman or you are a transfer student from a private or out-of-state institution. If you attended solely Texas public institutions (2-year or 4-year) prior to attendig Texas State, you can or will be placed under the catalog assigned to you when you first attended that institution unless degree requirements or major requirements dictate otherwise.

Will my coursework at another institution count toward my degree at Texas State?
Please see Transfer Equivalencies to find out which coursework can be applied toward your Texas State degree.  If you have transfer coursework that does not have a direct equivalent at Texas State, it will be assigned

  • an ELNA (elective non-advanced), if it was a freshman or sophomore (1000-2000) level course or
  • an ELADV (elective advanced), if it was a junior or senior (3000-4000) level course
  • If coded with a core curriculum code, the course will fulfill your core curriculum requirements
    • Example: (040) ENG ELNA - Intro to Eng Literature
  • If no code is attached, the course will have to be evaluated by University College for its eligibility
