Minimum Requirements for Graduation: Hours and Grades
  • 128 hours total (32 at Texas State)
    • 60 hours at Texas State to graduate with honors
  • University Advanced Hour Requirement
    • 39 advanced hours total, including transfer work at the advanced level, of 3000-4000 level coursework
      • Examples: HIST 3315, POSI 4331
    • 24 advanced hours at Texas State (39 total) for transfer students
  • University Writing Intensive Requirement
    • 9 hours of writing intensive coursework
    • Courses that are writing intensive are designated with a (WI) in the catalog description
      • Example: (WI) ENG 3315 Introduction to Creative Writing
  • Grade Point Averages Required
    • Texas State GPA
      • Most majors in Liberal Arts - 2.00 GPA
      • Geography - 2.25 GPA
      • International Studies - 3.00 GPA
      • Students seeking teacher certification - 2.50 GPA
        • English
        • Geography
        • History
        • Modern Languages
        • Political Science
      • Each Teaching Field - 2.50 GPA
        • No grade lower than "C" in each course in the teaching field(s)
  • Major GPA
    • Most Liberal Art majors - 2.25 GPA
      • Except Geography, BS in Anthropology and students seeking teacher certification - 2.50 GPA
    • Modern Languages - 2.50 GPA in all advanced courses (3000-4000 level)
