Candidates for bachelor's degrees in the College of Liberal Arts can choose from 30 exciting degree programs.  Liberal Arts majors must also choose a minor. 
All bachelor’s degrees require a minimum of 128 semester hours, including 40 advanced hours. Many degrees can be planned to include teacher certification.  More ...

General Education Core Curriculum

In order to acquire the fundamental skills and cultural background that are the marks of an educated person, all students at Texas State complete a program of general education core curriculum courses, which serves as the common foundation for all majors and accounts for about 35 percent of the approximately 128 semester credit hours required for a bachelor’s degree. University Seminar and Common Experience
All freshman and transfer students at Texas State take a course titled University Seminar.  The course teaches skills and concepts that promote academic success, life-long learning, and respect for a diversity of issues and ideas.
Freshmen and transfer students also participate in the Common Experience, a year-long initiative designed to cultivate a common intellectual conversation across the campus, to enhance student participation in the campus' intellectual life, and to foster a sense of community on campus and beyond. Common Experience topics have included "The Water Planet," "Protest and Dissent," "Courage," and "Hate."

Additional Degree Requirements
In certain degree programs, the College of Liberal Arts requires that additional courses be taken in English, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and modern languages.  Liberal Arts majors are also required to have a minor.
