Rick Baish
El Paso, Texas
Rick Baish, a native of Fort Worth, graduated from Texas State in 1969 with degrees in Political Science and History. He received a law degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1972 and served in the Army, in active and reserve duty, from 1972 to 1984. Mr. Baish joined El Paso Natural Gas Company in 1973 as a staff attorney. Over the next 25 years, he assumed positions of increasing responsibility, becoming President of the company in 1996. In the community, Mr. Baish served from 1999-2005 as a board member and chair of the New Mexico Nature Conservancy. He served on the board of the Otero County, New Mexico, Soil and Water Conservation District 2000-2005, and in 2003 he was appointed by the Governor of New Mexico to the Task Force for Forest and Watershed Health. He is now retired and plans to relocate to Las Cruces, NM, with his wife Laurie.
Mr. Baish was named a Distinguished Alumnus of Texas State in 2000, by the Alumni Association.
