Luan Brunson-HaynesLuan Brunson-Haynes

Luan Brunson-Haynes’ career as a college administrator, member of the English faculty, and fundraiser at Texas State has spanned 40 years. After earning a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and master’s and doctoral degrees from Texas Tech University, Dr. Brunson-Haynes joined the Texas State English faculty in 1967. In addition to teaching popular undergraduate and graduate courses in the literature of the Enlightenment and Victorian eras, Dr. Brunson-Haynes chaired the Department of English 1972-1983 and served as Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts 1984-1998. Her numerous professional activities have included the presidency of the Association of Departments of English, the arm of the Modern Language Association that guides the work of more than 3000 departments of English in America’s colleges and universities. In 1999, Dr. Brunson-Haynes became Distinguished Professor Emerita. She has continued to teach and to aid the Office of University of Advancement as a fundraiser and as liaison to the Colleges within the University. Dr. Brunson-Haynes she lives in Greece for several months each year, where conducts research for a novel she is writing.
