Dr. Harney received her degree in Comparative Literature from The University of Texas at Austin and holds the rank of associate professor at Texas State. She teaches Business Spanish, Hispanic Literature, and other courses for the department and the Honors program. She has developed and supervises an undergraduate internship program and summer study abroad programs in Monterrey and Guanajuato, Mexico, and she maintains an active scholarly agenda in the area of Hispanic Literature and Cultural Studies. In recognition of her outstanding teaching, Dr. Harney received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2004. For the College of Liberal Arts, Dr. Harney will coordinate the work of Liberal Arts Council, strategic planning, and curriculum and SACS-related work, including efforts to measure learning outcomes.
