Dr. Nancy J. Grayson was appointed Associate Dean of Liberal Arts for Student Academic Affairs in 1998. She works with students who have academic problems by tracking their progress toward graduation, and with the Liberal Arts Advising Center on various policies, procedures, and activities. She coordinates the NEH Distinguished Teaching Professorship in the Humanities, Liberal Arts Awards Day, the Dean’s Liberal Arts Student Advisory Council (LASAC), the Liberal Arts Graduate Scholarship Committee, and other Liberal Arts College Scholarships. In addition, she is involved in a number of editorial projects, and she serves on the Liberal Arts Advisory Council (LAC) as a non-voting member. Dr. Grayson received her Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin in 1968 and joined the Texas State English faculty that September. She directed the composition program for six years and the sophomore literature program for three. From 1987 to 1993, she chaired the Texas State Department of English. She served as its Director of Advanced Studies from 1993 to 2005.
