The Department of History offers HIST 5374, Public History Internship. The director maintains a list of internship opportunities and helps students find a site that will best serve their needs and interests. Students are paired with professional public historians who will serve as their mentor for the semester. Internships are offered in a range of specialties including archival management, historic preservation, historic site administration and interpretation, cultural resource management, and heritage tourism.

Students complete 126 hours of work in the field for 3 hours credit. With the approval of the director, students may complete 252 hours in the field for six hours credit.
