|Endowments from the Burdine Johnson Foundation, the Angel Foundation and others helped to establish the Katherine Anne Porter Literary Center in the author's childhood home in Kyle, near San Marcos. The Center attracts audiences to readings by famous authors and poets and houses a writer-in-residence. First Lady Laura Bush dedicated the Center as a National Literary Landmark in 2002. |
