College of Liberal Arts Hosts Undergraduate Research Expo

On April 29, 2022, the College of Liberal Arts Research Expo showcased 9 research presentations and 15 posters by Liberal Arts undergraduate students from seven academic departments and the Center for International Studies. Dean Mary Brennan moderated the online event. Each 15-minute presentation was followed by 10 minutes of discussion with the audience. An in-person awards ceremony for participants followed. First and second place award winners in the oral presentations and poster competitions earned $1000 and $500 scholarships.

Oral presentations displayed a diversity of undergraduate research interests such as environmental hazards, the history of military aircraft, racial representation in film, and learning preferences during the COVID pandemic.

The poster presentations addressed topics ranging from West African and East Asian linguistics and history, to femicide in Mexico, to the Catalonian independence movement, to the philosophy of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

More information about the Research Expo, oral presentation abstracts, and research posters can be found on the EXPO website.
