The Department of History at Texas State offers a Bachelor of Arts in History (with the option of teacher certification). As a liberal arts discipline, the department is dedicated to developing analytical skills and promoting critical thinking. History students know that to understand the present, one needs explore the past. In that effort, our students exercise their skills in critical thinking, conducting research, and crafting compelling arguments in the courses the Department offers that span centuries and encompass the globe. Students are encouraged to reflect not simply on their career goals, but also on what type of persons they want to become.
