Where is your hometown?
Jonesboro, AR

What was your major(s)/degree(s) and where did you go to school?
Bachelor of Science in Marketing, Arkansas State University

Why did you decide to pursue a career in higher education?
After being out in the world of sales, I realized that I didn’t want to pitch people products.  I wasn’t genuinely helping anyone.  But I did realize that I’m a good problem solver, and I enjoy helping people solve problems.  That’s what makes coming to work every day worthwhile.

What is your favorite part of working for Texas State University?
As I said before, helping someone solve a problem.  Or, better yet, meeting with someone who’s overwhelmed and unsure about their next step and providing some guidance and reassurance.  Sometimes it isn’t much at all, but even just being able to take some of the stress off of someone’s semester is a rewarding feeling

What “words of wisdom” would you like to share with students?
Appreciate where you are right now.  It’s easy to look ahead to the weekend, to the end of the semester, or to graduation.  Not that those things won’t be exciting, and not to say that all “right now’s” are going to be something you want to hold onto, but try and find the value in the moment when possible.  Don’t let your nostalgia be made from days you wished away.

Tell us a random fact about yourself.
One random fact about myself is that I disdain telling random facts about myself. 😊
